Editorial draft available to read. Factual and language review is pending. Examples are illustrative.
Decision and method
An export should preserve the context that disappears outside the dashboard. Include the period, filters, generation time, data refresh time, units and indicator definitions. Decide what detail the recipient needs; transferring every available row does not necessarily help them make the decision that motivated the report.
Illustrative example
Illustrative example: management receives a PDF of pending orders for plant B. Its first page states Tuesday's cutoff and excludes cancellations. An appendix lists identifiers for ten critical orders. The file must not appear to cover every plant or imply that its data was refreshed today.
Acceptance check
Open the file outside the application and ask another person to explain its scope. Check totals, characters in all four languages, page breaks and complete columns. Accept it when every important number can be related to a definition without depending on the recipient remembering the original dashboard screen.
Key takeaways
- An exported report must remain interpretable even when its reader cannot access the original dashboard.
