Editorial draft available to read. Factual and language review is pending. Examples are illustrative.

Decision and scope

A scheduled job needs an owner, a defined cadence and evidence of execution. Specify start and completion states, expected duration, retry rules and treatment of delayed runs. A configured schedule does not prove that its work completed or that the information consumed by other teams is current.

Illustrative example

Illustrative example: an overnight synchronization refreshes orders. Its status view shows the last complete run, accepted records and rejected records. After an interruption, a retry follows rules that prevent duplicate changes and alerts the owner when manual intervention is required. It does not silently label a partially processed run successful.

Acceptance check

Test partial failures, overlapping executions and a source that remains unavailable. Define the delay each downstream consumer can tolerate. Accept supervision when an operator can detect stale information and explain whether the job completed, failed or remains pending.

Key takeaways

  • Accept supervision when an operator can detect stale information and explain whether the job completed, failed or remains pending.
